Backcountry camping in Big Bend National Park for a few days, along the Texas & Mexico border: The most remote camping I have ever done (so far). The silence is remarkable. It is almost as if your ears are plugged, it is that quiet. When a pack of coyotes began howling late last night, I realized I wasn’t alone… It got brutally cold last night but quickly ripped the rainfly off my tent because the canopy of stars was absolutely insane. I have never in my life seen so many overhead. That’s what being hundreds of miles from civilization does to your eyes. It clears them nicely… Quite an experience so far.
